London, Day 2
Day 2 in London started out a bit slower with a walk along the south bank of the Thames and then an early lunch at the Cafe in the Crypt at the church of St. Martin's in the Fields. I had a delicious red pepper hummus and roasted vegetable sandwich and an almond tart.
Then we walked to Shakespeare's Globe Theater to catch a performance of Hamlet.
I had seen the Globe before in 2016 but I hadn't gone inside, so this time, going inside and showing my tickets, I felt all jittery and excited. I was actually inside the Globe! We found our seats up in the northern gallery. Everything was wood, including the bench seating. The theater was a perfect O with the sky for a roof. Our seats gave us a birdseye view of the show from stage right. Maybe they weren't traditionally the best seats in the house, but it was interesting to see the show from that angle. We also were shaded the entire time, not being boiled in our own skin like a lot of the other audience members. (Not to mention these seats were more affordable.)

The performance was excellent. The actors wore a mix of period-style costumes and modern day clothing, which surprised me, and delivered their lines flawlessly. Props were minimal. It was all about the acting and the writing. I loved it.
After the show, A and I walked down the Thames' south bank some more.

We happened on a used book sale under Westminster Bridge and browsed around a bit. We found a nice edition of The Wind in the Willows to give to our hosts as a gift along with some fun old postcards.
And that was the end of our second day in London.
